Drawing for Adults: Trees

This event is intended for grade 9 - adult

Come draw with us! We'll provide everything you need to practice your drawing skills. In this session we'll be drawing trees using graphite pencils.

Every week we’ll cover a different topic. You’ll learn different techniques to tackle texture, chiaroscuro, and perspective, plus improve your sense of composition, lighting, and form. You'll get the chance to try out different media like pencil, charcoal, and pastel. All skill levels are welcome to participate.

Fiber Arts Lab: Knitting

This event is intended for grade 6- adult

Join us every other Monday for an evening of knitting and crochet. We will provide everything you need to get started. Stop in and learn the basics. You can bring a project you've been working on, or just stop by to practice your stitches. We welcome all skill levels, no prior knowledge is necessary.

This week we will focus on knitting.

DIY Clear Ball Ornaments

Huron Valley Harmonizers

Join the Huron Valley Harmonizers for a concert of a cappella tunes sung in the Barbershop Quartet style! The Huron Valley Harmonizers chorus is a local men's chorus -- part of the Barbershop Harmony Society -- and is open to all men who love to sing, regardless of experience. The Harmonizers perform all over Washtenaw County, singing at fairs, festivals, and other local events, as well as hosting a number of concerts throughout the year.

Ellen Livingston is a certified yoga teacher and has benefited from a raw vegan diet since 2002. Ellen offers yoga and raw food classes in the community and at her home on 5 acres in Ann Arbor. Ellen also offers life coaching and health retreats.

Lights, Camera, Austen: the screen adaptations of Jane Austen

U-M graduate student instructor Anne Mecklenburg will discuss the many, many adaptations of Jane Austen's work. Have you seen every Jane Austen miniseries multiple times? Remain devoted to the Greer Garson/Laurence Olivier Pride and Prejudice? Really liked that one with the zombies? Loved Clueless? No matter your favorite, this event is a chance to learn more about the history and context of Jane Austen novels on film. Naturally, we'll be watching a lot of clips!

Cookies Galore with Keegan Rodgers!

This event is intended for grade 6 - adult

Keegan C. Rodgers, Head Baker at the People's Food Co-Op, leads this hands-on and lively workshop on how to make cookies galore!

In this class, students will learn all about how to make a variety of cookies for the holidays or anytime. The ingredients, the steps involved with each cookie, and how to properly store the finished product will all be covered in this class. Keegan will have cookies to taste too!

This event is a partnership with the People's Food Co-Op and is part of an ongoing baking series.

Danish Heart Baskets

This event is intended for grade 4-adult

In Scandinavia, they celebrate Jul, which stretches from mid-November to mid-January. One tradition of Jul is to weave heart baskets out of felt, fabric or paper.
