1 cup sugar
1 cup milk

1 package dates
4 teaspoonfuls Royal baking powder
3 1/2 cups flour
Let rise 20 minutes. Bake 40 minutes.
Brown Bread
2/3 cups New Orleans molasses
2 cups sour milk
2 teaspoonfuls soda
salt
3 cups graham flour

Graham Bread
2 cups sour milk
2 cups graham flour
1 cup white flour
2 tablespoonfuls molasses
1 teaspoonful soda
1/2 teaspoonful salt
This will make 1 loaf.

2 teaspoonfuls soda
1 cup raisins
1 teaspoonful salt
2 cups sour milk
1 cup white flour
2 1/2 cups graham flour
Bake 45 minutes.
Raisin Bread
4 cups flour
2 1/2 teaspoonfuls Royal baking powder
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup raisins
2 tablespoonfuls lard
1 teaspoonful salt
1 cup milk or enough to moisten
Graham Bread
Three cups sour milk, 2 teaspoonfuls soda, little salt, 1/2 cup sugar, 4 tablespoonfuls molasses, 2 teaspoonfuls Mazola or butter, graham flour for stiff batter, and add 1/2 cup seeded raisins. Bake slowly 1 1/2 hours.
Simple Walnut Bread
3 cups flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoonful salt
3 teaspoonfuls Royal baking powder
1 cup walnut meats
1/2 cup raisins
1 egg
1 cup milk
Mix and sift dry ingredients; mix in walnut meats; add egg, well beaten, and milk; pour into greased pan. Bake 1 hour. Have oven barely warm the first 15 minutes, gradually increasing the heat.
Winchester Bread
1/2 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup cold water
1/2 cup molasses
3/4 cup milk
2 cups graham flour (unsifted)
1 cup flour
1 1-3 teaspoonful salt
2 1/2 teaspoonfuls Royal baking powder
3/4 teaspoonful soda
3/4 cup walnut meats
Mix brown sugar and water. When lumps are dissolved add molasses and milk. Mix and sift flour, salt, baking powder and soda. Mix with graham flour and add to first mixture. Add walnut meats, cut in large pieces. Put in greased bread pan and bake in slow oven 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Makes 2 1/4-pound loaf.
Graham Bread

1 cup buttermilk
1 cup white flour
2 cups graham flour
3/4 cup raisins
1 teaspoonful salt
1 teaspoonful butter
1 tablespoonful lard
1 teaspoonful soda
Bake in a loaf.
Baked Brown Bread
4 cups sour milk (not loppard)
3/4 cup sugar (brown or white)
1 cup molasses
1 teaspoonful salt
4 teaspoonfuls (level) soda,
Sifted with 2 cups white flour
4 cups graham flour
Bake until well done. This makes 3 good sized loaves.
