Oatmeal Cookies

1 cup shortening or 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup lard
2 cups brown sugar
3 eggs
2 cups flour
3 cups rolled oats
1 teaspoonful soda in 1 tablespoonful hot water

Mix all together, put in rolled oats and flour enough to roll.
