Corn Meal Muffins

1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar,
2 eggs, well beaten
1 cup milk
1 1/2 cups corn meal
1 1/2 cups flour,
1/2 teaspoonful salt
4 level teaspoonfuls Royal baking powder
