whereabouts submitted by ftan on July 16, 2012, 3:17pm this movie was shot in ann arbor. if any residents saw the fake snow in downtown, that was a part of the set for a scene in this very movie. if you live in ann arbor, it is especially fun to see this movie. i enjoyed recognizing buildings and locations in the movie.

good submitted by lil steve on August 2, 2012, 9:45pm a really long engagement

FUNNY submitted by loving jinny on August 9, 2012, 4:16pm FUNNY AND LIGHT.,

Really - do people in Ann Arbor hunt non-stop? submitted by ssmyth on October 14, 2012, 9:39pm While it was fun to see some local Ann Arbor sites in this movie, the main character acted like this is hicksville and the only fun thing to do is to go deer hunting and then make Mugs, clothing and accessories around your house out of deer skin and horns. Really...???

silly submitted by unknown on December 30, 2012, 10:03am Nice scenes of Ann Arbor - the plot is totally silly

Good, funny movie submitted by dree411 on June 18, 2013, 2:35pm It was a great movie. Filmed around Ann Arbor, so great for anyone from the area who cares to see their town in movies.

Not worth it submitted by smgop on July 17, 2013, 7:56pm Made Ann Arbor seem like it is in the middle of Montana-
Movie dragged on interminably, was silly and trite.

Ann Arbor on the Big Screen submitted by emjane on June 13, 2014, 3:37pm While it's fun to see recognizable Ann Arbor locations, people from the town may have a hard time not being a little offended by the protagonists distaste for the city.

Worth seeing once (with relatively low expectations), but not again.

Screwball-ish, not everyone's cuppa submitted by cherylo on June 14, 2014, 4:00pm I am a big fan of Emily Blunt and Jason Segel both, but this was just not overall my kind of movie. The Michigan stereotyping was laid on thick and not necessarily accurate. Some jokes went beyond bad taste in my opinion. On the other hand there were some lovely scenes, and the theme of how people change was at times deftly handled. Overall, I'd call it uneven at best. It was lovely to see the Ann Arbor area locations.

Cool submitted by xiwang on June 15, 2014, 5:52pm This movie was okay by itself but even better if your an ann arborite.

OK but not life-changing submitted by wendylv on June 17, 2014, 8:24pm We saw some of the filming when they shot this movie around Ann Arbor so it was fun to see how it looked in the movie. The plot was a little hard to believe, the leads were likable, and it was funny in places, but this is probably not one you need to see more than once.

ann arbor and local movie submitted by KSB2013 on June 17, 2014, 10:51pm local movie in our hometown.
jason segal is a fav.

the five-year engagement submitted by a2sue on July 17, 2014, 3:00am i was disappointed by the five-year engagement. i had high hopes since it was filmed here in town, but that really didn't help the plot any, unfortunately. to be perfectly honest, i just didn't care for the film very much.

Quirky submitted by majean on August 9, 2018, 6:16pm This is a fun and cute movie that I got to watch be filmed around town while they were here! They shot the winter scenes in July. What a sight, the streets turned to snow and ice while you're wearing shorts and a tank top. The plot is quirky and not your typical rom-com since it's mostly from the man's point of view, which I found refreshing.

Shot in Ann Arbor! submitted by lauramason89 on August 18, 2018, 11:22am I didn't see the cast/crew around town while they were filming this movie, but I loved watching it and seeing all the places I know and love. Beyond the fantastic setting, it's a great movie. The characters are stubborn and frustrating and lovable, and you really can't help but root for them. It's hilarious, different, and weird (both in the plot and in the characters) without straying into over-the-top absurd, which allows it to stay grounded and relatable. Very good film!

Fun submitted by c_zhang on June 29, 2019, 12:43am Nice scenes of Ann Arbor, but the plot was ridiculous.

The Five-Year Engagement submitted by lstorc on July 3, 2019, 7:43pm This is unnecessarily crass and vulgar. It has funny elements. It does not live up to its hype.
