Outliers -- a success submitted by gclites on August 16, 2010, 6:21pm Interesting, easy read. Lots to think about -- Gladwell says that success comes from adding up lots of little things, and he tells many good stories. Some may question whether being Jewish in New York in 1900 was an advantage. Few would question that working 10,000 hours on your favorite job task would give you an advantage. If you like this book, you might like Mindset -- the New Psychology of Success by Carol Dweck.

Eye-opener submitted by njdsilva on August 1, 2011, 3:40pm This book really broadens the mind. Learn about southern culture, the advantage of being born in the mid-1950's, and why farming in Asia versus farming in America creates a different culture!

Interesting--no, make that 'fascinating' read submitted by hathaway1066 on July 18, 2014, 3:58pm Gladwell lays out a series of examples of why and how there are reasons and patterns that govern people's successes and failures, showing that, overall, sometimes luck is factor, but other times hard work. Usually, he shows that luck was a play where one expects hard work or talent to govern, and vice versa.

He tells his tales well, making them engaging and convincing. A good read.

Success submitted by ECReader on June 12, 2015, 12:20pm An interesting book all about a theory of success. Gives you a ton to think about, even after you finished the book.

interesting book submitted by bookher on July 28, 2015, 5:03pm I liked Outliers but not as much as Blink and the Tipping Point.

Easy and Interesting Read submitted by Maria Maguire on July 6, 2018, 1:48pm This book has lots of fascinating theories, all of which are carefully thought out and well supported. The things I read in this book have been on mind and still make me think even years after reading it. The book is also super easy to read, and doesn't get bogged down in too scientific language.

Another Gladwell gem submitted by purchasingqueen on July 13, 2019, 10:52pm Malcolm Gladwell yet again imparts his wisdom and insite on us in this book about seemingly unlikely or unusual winners and how/why they became successful.

Must read submitted by eagles on July 19, 2019, 10:17pm Fascinating and true.

Success is not that easy submitted by Weweeweee on June 14, 2020, 5:14pm Success is not that easy. It's a combination of effort and luck.

Didn’t age well submitted by ack on August 12, 2020, 6:08pm I remember when this book came out - it was revolutionary! But then came failed replication study after failed replication study. I’m sure some of this has held up, but I wouldn’t base your worldview on it.

Great read submitted by lyss on August 23, 2023, 7:40am Well thought out argument for the unique and different among us. Engaging as always.
